Re:view

Last week I pitched my idea to the class i went with the re:evolution idea as i thought it was the best to make use my 3d skills. I will look at a number of species and look at their anatomies and take them through an imaginary period of evolutionary developement by the process of research, scetches and 3d models. The final peice will be an animation of the imaginary creature in it's natuarl habitat.
I am interested in working with a number of species the human race is one. extinct animals like the sabre tooth tiger have also captured my imagination. I was inspired by meer cats and the way they stand on their hind legs. if the sabre tooth tiger survuved the adjustment to a warm climate after the ice age what would they look like now or in the future. i also like the idea that they could be a rival to the human race.
The human race is extreamely diverse and has many races and social groups. i like the idea that some of these groups might become segregated by social situations like if one side of the world was at war for a prolonged period while the other was at peace, the different groups would develope drastically differently. one side would develope specialised warriors but what would the other side develope into?

First Ideas

We were asked to come up with 3 RE: words and a description of where we might go with the ideas. For me this is an extreamely open brief and i'm not entirely sure how to go about it because I like having solid answers but for this, there is no "right" answer! just ideas and their development. So i came up with more than 3 ideas to see which gets the best reaction from my tutors. RE:Evolve is my favorite as it gives me the most room to explore different ideas, i can research various creatures and their anatomies which will help further my character design abilities. My teacher liked RE:Size the most out of my ideas because if i was playfull with the perception of scale proportion and perspective it could be very fun. she also liked re:position, a similar idea to the last but instead of playing on our perception of scale it would place objects in odd places to see how it affects our perception of them.
Other ideas that I liked but didn't go down as well as the above. RE:animate take a scene from an action film and animate it in 3d. RE:stage, take two well known heroes from different shows and restage a fight between them, i wanted to stage goku vs superman, i think it would make an interesting fight.

My First Blog

Hello all
wellcome to my blog, this is my first blog. i've never documented my work or my life in this manner before, not even in a diary. So please forgive me if it doesn't make sense.
In this blog i will attempt to document my progress with the RE:Breif, also any thoughts or ideas I have that may or may not make it to the final peice will be also noted for future reference. I'm a 21 yearold student studying at the university of huddersfield on the virtual reality with aimation course. For RE: i will have to come up with and develope interesting ideas starting from a re:word i.e. replay, revise, etc. i will have to present these ideas to the class with the aid of design boards, images and video. I will choose a re:word that allows me room to develope my expertise in 3d animation as well as providing me with a playground for my ideas to grow. Hopfully by the end of the project I will have a body of work that demonstrates my skill, I will be criticle of my work, at every stage, in order to move my ideas on in the most favorable way. Thank you for taking the time to view my blog, I hope you get as much out of it as I will.
